OTTAWA, ON — Canada Soccer announced that the battle for the Voyageurs Cup will kick off on June 6, 2018 in Laval, Quebec, where the Première Ligue de Soccer du Quebec (PLSQ) and League1 Ontario entrants, join the 2018 Canadian Championships. The competition will run until August 15, when the 11th Canadian Championship winner is presented the Voyageur Cup earning themselves a place in the 2019 CONCACAF Champions League and the opportunity to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The 2018 edition of the Canadian Championship features an additional qualifying round that will pit PLSQ champions, AS Blainville and League1 Ontario champions Oakville Blue Devils FC against each other. The Blue Devils will be travelling to Quebec for their first match on June 6, 2018 and will host AS Blainville for the return leg on June 13. The winner fill face Ottawa Fury FC in the second qualifying round over a home and away series scheduled for June 20 and 27 respectively, to determine who will advance to face reigning champions Toronto FC.
“We are obviously very proud and excited to be representing League1 Ontario in the 2018 Canadian Championships” said Head Coach Duncan Wilde. “We have already begun off season training and we will be looking to complement our squad over the coming months in preparation for the National Championship games and the defense of our League1 title”.
Ticket details for the Canadian Championship will be released on February 2018.
