OAKVILLE, ON — Oakville Blue Devils FC announced today that the club will enter its first ever women’s team into League1 Ontario for the 2018 season. Coming on the back of the men’s successful 2017 League1 Ontario Championship title and the resulting entry into the 2018 Canadian Championships, the Blue Devils view this as the perfect opportunity to launch an elite level women’s team into competition.
“Our ownership group and technical department is no stranger to fielding women’s soccer at the very highest level” said Shen Goh, Managing Director, “Many years of fielding powerful teams in the former USL W League during our Toronto Lady Lynx period, provides a strong platform for us to build another very competitive roster for next season in 2018.”
The organization has appointed Brett Mosen as Head Coach of the League1 women’s team, a position he previously held with the former Lady Lynx and KW United in the ‘W’ League and more recently with McMaster University. Brett has been with the Blue Devils organization for several years and is an A License coach with tremendous experience. He is also a part of the men’s L1O technical staff, along with long time associates Duncan Wilde and Billy Steele.
Plans have already begun with regards to player recruitment and the Blue Devils will be hosting open tryouts at the Oakville Pine Glen Soccer Centre on Saturday December 30th and Saturday January 6th. Interested players should complete a tryout application by visiting the Blue Devils website. The Club will also be fielding a competitive team in the OWSL U21 division and players are also invited to register for a tryout online.
